May River’s Giovana Rodriguez and Gabby Ximenez combined on a perfect game as the Sharks beat Ridgeland-Hardeeville 17-0 on Monday.
Rodriguez struck out four in two innings, and Ximenez fanned two of the three batters she faced.
Kylee Gleason was 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs, Rodriguez had an RBI double and scored three runs, Hannah Manley and Madi Black drove in two runs apiece, and Jordan Kovacs and Maddie Armistead each added a hit and an RBI for the Sharks.
May River also had a good weekend at the Triple Crown Invitational in Aiken, going 3-0 in pool play before dropping two games in the championship bracket. The Sharks beat Mid-Carolina (9-4), Fox Creek (10-0), and previously-undefeated White Knoll (3-1) before losing to Chapin (12-4) and Palmetto (5-3).
May River (8-8) hosts the second game of the series at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
