HS Baseball: Big Inning Propels HHCA Past THA

Hilton Head Christian baseball used an eight-run fourth inning to break open a close game and cruise to a 12-3 win over visiting Thomas Heyward on Wednesday.

John Burke was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs, and Michael Graupner and J.D. Monts each drove in three runs to lead the Eagles. Dargan Cherry and Daniel Harrington added two hits apiece.

John Blackshire struck out 11 over six innings while limiting the Rebels to three unearned runs on five hits to earn the win. Reese Malon worked a perfect seventh.

Zack Bond was tagged with the loss, allowing 10 runs (six earned) on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Bond had two hits to lead the Rebels at the plate.

HHCA (10-1) hosts rival Hilton Head Prep at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. THA (3-8) hosts Hilton Head Prep at 6 p.m. Thursday.
