Cheyenne Strong struck out 15 batters and belted a home run to lead Thomas Heyward softball to a 4-2 win over visiting May River on Wednesday.
Strong limited the Sharks to two unearned runs and three hits in a complete-game gem, and she was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Ivy Bryan added two hits and an RBI, and Abigail Hayes and Jana Christian each had two hits for the Rebels.
Kylee Gleason was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Sharks.
Hayley Welsch took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) and 10 hits over six innings with five strikeouts.
Thomas Heyward (5-5) travels to Summerville for the Palmetto Invitational on April 6. May River (4-6) faces Mid-Carolina on Thursday to open the Triple Crown Invitational in Aiken.
