HS Softball: May River Finishes Sweep Of Bluffton

May River softball completed a three-game sweep of rival Bluffton with a 21-2 win Friday.

The Sharks erupted for 14 runs in the first inning and ended the game after three innings via the mercy rule.

Kylee Gleason led the offensive outburst for May River, going 3-for-4 with three home runs and six RBIs, while Hannah Manley was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, Hayley Welsch went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI, and Giovana Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.

Welsch allowed two runs and three hits over two innings for the win, and Rodriguez pitched a scoreless third.

Dani Campos had a hit and an RBI for the Bobcats, and Alex Davis drove in a run.

The Sharks (4-2, 3-0) play a key three-game region series against Battery Creek next week, beginning with a home game at 7 p.m. Monday. The Bobcats begin a three-game region series against Ridgeland-Hardeeville with a home game at 6 p.m. Monday.
