Josh Patterson threw the first no-hitter in May River baseball history as the Sharks beat rival Bluffton 9-0 in the first of a three-game series Monday.
Patterson struck out nine and walked three in the gem, and Bluffton’s Sean Sutay matched zeroes with him until the Sharks plated five runs in the fourth to break open a scoreless game.
Cooper George had two hits, including a three-run triple, and Andrew Perez added a two-run single to lead May River’s offense.
The Sharks (6-1, 1-0) and Bobcats continue the series at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bluffton.
