HS Lax: Seahawk Boys Get Back On Track vs. Bobcats

Hilton Head High boys’ lacrosse returned to its dominant form with a 19-1 win over rival Bluffton on Wednesday.

Coming off their first loss of the season against state power Wando, the Seahawks wasted no time getting back on track. Will Frith scored five goals, Jake Rader had four goals and two assists, Chaz Renaud scored four goals, and Max Boyer added three goals and two assists to lead the Hilton Head attack.

Also registering points were Cooper Brock (1G), Enzo Saritelli (1G), Isaiah Shatz (1G), and Whit Molloy (1A).

Goalies Chris Valentino and Drew Schlesener combined for five saves and only gave up a single goal. Defensemen Colin Courtney (10 ground balls, 3 takeaways) and Jordan Singleton (2 GBs, 2 TAs) anchored the defense, and Frith (9-for-9) and Hake Patrick (11-for-13) controlled possession through face-offs.

Carlo Pulido scored the lone goal for the Bobcats, and Owen Latchford made 23 saves.

“Tonight was a nice bounce back from Saturday’s loss” Hilton Head coach Will Callegari said. “We still need to improve on the little things, but our tempo and effort were good. We made a lot of great looks, but just like last time, their keeper stood tall and shut us down. Bluffton may be young, but they are improving every time I see them. We have a great test this weekend with back to back games up in Greenville. It should be an exciting weekend of lacrosse.”

The Seahawks (4-1) face Greenville High at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Christ Church at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Bobcats (1-4) travel to Waccamaw at 1 p.m. Saturday.
