Hilton Head High’s baseball team opened its season with a 15-0 rout of visiting Battery Creek on Monday.
Stratton Pollitzer went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Matt Mebane was 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Seahawks at the plate.
Jeff Hays picked up the win on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out five over three innings. JJ Richardson struck out two and gave up one hit in one inning of relief.
The Seahawks (1-0) are back in action Tuesday, traveling to Berkeley for a Region 8-4A contest. The Dolphins (0-1) travel to Wade Hampton to open Region 8-3A play at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
