USCB Softball Splits Pair With Wolverines

The USCB softball team split a doubleheader with Michigan-Dearborn on Sunday, dropping the opener 2-1 before bouncing back for an 8-1 win.

The Wolverines pushed across two runs in the first inning of the opener and made the lead stand up, as USCB’s lone run came on Kaitlyn O’Hearn’s RBI double in the fourth. Haley Hawkins and Kylie Kelly each went 2-for-4 for USCB.

Maria Molloseau took the tough-luck loss, allowing two runs and four hits in a complete game.

USCB took charge early in game 2. Abby Pac struck out nine in a complete game, allowing six hits and one walk while giving up one unearned run.

Rachel Frankhouser went 3-for-3 and scored twice, and Kayla Boyle and Crystal Owens each delivered two-run doubles in the five-run first inning.

USCB (12-4) hits the road next weekend for the PFX Athletics Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
