HS Soccer: May River Boys Open With Shutout Of Rock Hill

May River’s boys kicked off the high school soccer season with a 2-0 win over Rock Hill in the Charleston Shootout on Friday.

Conner Golden scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 15th minute off an assist from James Lucas, and Chris Hernandez pounced on a rebound to score in the 71st minute for the Sharks.

Keeper Tony Rodriguez made four saves to post the clean sheet against the defending tournament champions.

May River (1-0) plays twice Saturday, facing tournament host West Ashley at 9 a.m. and Palmetto Scholars Academy at 3 p.m.
