HSBB: Mountain Vista Sinks Seahawks In Tourney Final

Mountain Vista (Colo.) won twice Friday, including a 61-24 victory over host Hilton Head High in the championship game of the inaugural Sonesta Hilton Head Island Shootout girls basketball tournament.

After having two days of play wiped out due to inclement weather, the tournament resumed Friday with an abbreviated schedule to accommodate teams’ travel plans. Mountain Vista beat Master’s Academy (Fla.) 49-42 in the second game of the day before defeating the Seahawks in the final to finish the week 3-0.

Britannia (B.C.) beat Santaluces (Fla.) 51-36 in the first game of the day to finish 2-0 on the week, but the Bruins’ flight plans prevented them from playing a third game.

Mountain Vista’s Amy Holland was named the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Zoe Moran, Hilton Head’s Miley Ray, Britannia’s Surprise Munie, Santaluces’ Emiah Downs, and Master’s Academy’s Kiara Harris.
