HS Wrestling: Eagles 4th, Campbell Champ At Palmetto Classic

The Beaufort High School wrestling team finished fourth among 23 teams and Justin Campbell won the 145-pound title Friday and Saturday at the Palmetto Classic in Irmo.

Campbell pinned his first three opponents before beating Dutch Fork’s Tristian Atkins 12-0 in the 145-pound final.

Luis Pantoja finished second at 120 pounds, earning two major decisions and a pin before losing 8-7 to Summerville’s Aidan Jurey in the final.

At 152 pounds, James Dagin finished third. Dagin won his pool with three pins, then lost a 9-8 decision to Chapin’s Kyle Nichols, but he came back to win two matches in the consolation bracket, including a 7-2 win over Nichols for third place.

The Eagles host Battery Creek and Hanahan for a double-dual at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
