The Beaufort High boys basketball team let the Clash At The Creek tournament title slip away Saturday with a 53-51 loss to Bacon County (Ga.).
The Eagles led by four with less than a minute to play, but Bacon County came up with a defensive stop and Shevin Peterson hit a 3-pointer to trim Beaufort’s lead to one. Beaufort then committed a costly turnover with 16 seconds left, leading to the winning basket for the Raiders.
Daijon Galloway scored 14 points and Brandon Smalls added 13 to lead Beaufort, while Peterson scored 14 for Bacon County.
Beaufort’s Ethan Leana was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 10.5 points in the Eagles’ two games.
