Battery Creek and Bluffton continued their runs in the SCHSL Class 3A volleyball playoffs with wins Monday.
The Region 8-3A champion Dolphins beat visiting Gilbert in four sets, winning 3-1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24) behind 12 kills and five blocks from Dazanni Hinton and eight kills and five blocks from Mia Debardelaben. Ta’Quasia Lampkin added seven kills and five blocks, Laiani McCullough had six kills, three blocks, and three digs, and McKenzie Young racked up 34 assists and four aces.
Bluffton went on the road and upset Region 5-3A champion Strom Thurmond 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 26-24), while May River’s playoff run ended with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-17) loss at Region 7-3A champion Waccamaw.
The third round is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday with Battery Creek hosting Bishop England and Bluffton traveling to Waccamaw.
