HS VB: BA Unbeaten At State Tourney; HHCA Still Alive

Beaufort Academy’s volleyball team went 3-0 Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the SCISA Class 1A State Championship at Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

The Eagles opened the day with a 2-0 (25-14, 25-5) win over Cambridge Academy, then defeated Coastal Christian Prep 2-0 (25-14, 25-9).

That set up a matchup against defending state champion Wardlaw Academy, which BA won 2-0 (25-19, 25-20). The Eagles play at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and need two wins in the double-elimination tournament to secure a place in the state championship match Tuesday.

In the Class 2A bracket, Hilton Head Christian Academy went 2-1 and will play an elimination game at 10 a.m., needing three wins to reach the state championship game. John Paul II went 0-2, falling to The King’s Academy and Pee Dee Academy to end its season.
