HSFB: Seahawks Fall Short In Close Game At Cane Bay

Collin Kaiser threw three touchdown passes but Hilton Head Island High School suffered another close defeat, falling 24-21 at Cane Bay on Friday.

Kaiser threw touchdown passes to Sterling White, Diante Richard, and Jeff Gordon. Cane Bay’s Kris Copeland had a 74-yard touchdown run and a 79-yard kick return score, and Dashon Dingle added a go-ahead 53-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Copeland went 74 yards for a score on the first play from scrimmage, but the Seahawks answered on Kaiser’s 27-yard TD pass to White before a field goal gave Cane Bay a 10-7 halftime lead.

Kaiser found Richard for a 12-yard TD to give the Seahawks a brief 14-10 lead, but Copeland returned the ensuing kickoff for a score.

HHIHS again claimed the lead on Kaiser’s 22-yard strike to Gordon early in the fourth, but the Cobras again answered on Dingle long scoring run.

The Seahawks (3-3, 0-2) host Colleton County next week with both teams needing a win to buoy their playoff hopes.
