Beaufort Academy was within one score midway through the third quarter before Andrew Jackson Academy pulled away for a 36-16 win Friday.
The Eagles were without star running back De’Shaun Epps, but the defense kept them in the game against an undefeated AJA team. It was 14-8 with six minutes left in the third quarter before BA ran out of steam.
Jaxon Spratling rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns and recorded 14 tackles and a forced fumble, and Edward McCormick had 17 tackles and a fumble recovery for BA. Dawson Coleman was 7-for-12 for 163 yards and rushed for 52 yards on six carries.
BA (3-4) plays at Coastal Christian Prep next week.
