The Beaufort High School volleyball team swept a pair of three-set matches Thursday, beating Wade Hampton and Berkeley.
The Eagles beat Wade Hampton 2-1 (24-26, 25-22, 29-27) with the team’s five seniors playing the entire non-region match on Senior Night.
Hailey Lamar (six kills), Vanaken Williams (five kills), and Macy Purdy (four kills, five assists) led the attack for the Eagles, while Lillian Sumner recorded six blocks, Cheyanne Newberry had a team-high 17 digs, and Sarah Tanis recorded five assists.
The Eagles then defeated Berkeley 2-1 (25-21, 26-28, 25-16) in a Region 8-4A match. Chase Vaigneur (six kills), Lamar (five kills, two aces) and McCayla Willingham (five kills) led the offensive effort, while Madison Gallion (two aces, seven digs, eight assists) and Macy Purdy (seven digs, seven assists) had strong all-around games and Caroline Malphrus recorded eight digs.
Beaufort High can wrap up second place in the region and a home playoff match with a win at Stall on Thursday.
