The USCB men’s cross country team handily defeated Georgia Military College in a dual meet and the Sand Sharks women finished fifth at the USC Aiken Pacer Invitational on Saturday.
Cristian Slaton won the 8K men’s race in 30:11 as USCB took the top three spots and five of the top six. Former Whale Branch Early College High School runner Wesley Murphy (30:36) was second, and teammate Matthew Self (33:57) was third. USCB’s Justin Dolata (35:27) finished fifth, and Darryl Dunham (36:20) was sixth.
Former Hilton Head Island High School standout Ciara McMahon led USCB’s women with an 11th-place finish, covering the 5K course in 24:04. Hannah Johnson (24:44) was 15th, followed by Annya Jones (26:33) in 22th, Gabby Ward (27:39) in 26th, and Rachel Persall (28:03) in 28th.
The Sand Sharks are back in action Saturday at the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational in Milledgeville, Ga.
