HS Volleyball: Seahawks Sweep, HHCA Drops Two 3-Set Contests

The Hilton Head Island High School volleyball team swept a tri-match Tuesday, defeating Savannah Country Day and Hilton Head Christian Academy.

The Seahawks beat Savannah Country Day 2-0 (25-18, 25-19) and rebounded after losing the first set to beat HHCA 2-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-18). HHCA lost a pair of close matches, falling 2-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-22) to Savannah Country Day.

Sydney Janson (11 kills), Brooke Simons (14 digs), and Grace Vanderslice (15 assists, 11 digs) led the Seahawks in the three-set win over HHCA. Against Savannah Country Day, Sydney Janson had four kills and five digs, Olivia Janson added four kills, Lexie Standen had four aces, and Veronique Magnun registered three blocks.

Sydney DeSimone (12 kills, 12 digs), Brielle McCarthy (24 assists), Lauryn Qualls (six kills, seven digs, four aces), and Olivia Reichenbach (six kills, two blocks, two aces) led HHCA against Savannah Country Day. DeSimone (10 kills, 11 digs, three aces) and Qualls (nine kills, six digs) led the way against the Seahawks.

Both teams are back in action Thursday, with the Seahawks playing a Region 8-4A tri-match against Berkeley and Stall in North Charleston and the Eagles traveling to Savannah to face Calvary Day and Savannah Christian Prep.
