Hilton Head Island High School runner Sam Gilman raced to another prestigious title Saturday, winning the boys 5K race at the Mike Moore Lake Murray Invitational and leading the Seahawks to a fourth-place team finish in the boys division.
Gilman finished in 15:11, four seconds ahead of Wando’s Patrick Spychalski. Teammates Joshua Williams (15:49) and Ryan Moosbrugger (15:51) were sixth and seventh
The HHIHS girls finished second overall despite having just one runner – freshman Sarah Cooke (10th, 18:54) – finish in the top 10. Riverside won the girls title with four top-10 finishers.
