Jeffrey Smyth and Reed Reichel hooked up for two touchdown passes and Kyleik Middleton rushed for more than 200 yards and a touchdown as Beaufort High remained unbeaten with a convincing win over visiting Bluffton.
Hunter Eldridge and Jermaine Patterson connected for two early touchdowns for the Bobcats before Patterson suffered a scary injury in the third quarter and was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Bluffton was within 14-13 just before halftime when Brandon Smalls scooped up an Eldridge fumble and returned it for a touchdown to make it 21-13 with four seconds left in the half.
Smyth hit Reichel for the duo’s second touchdown on the first possession of the second half, and Reggie Jones Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown to break it open for the Eagles.
John Swinton scored a late rushing touchdown for the Bobcats.
Beaufort (3-0) plays at Whale Branch next week, while Bluffton (1-2) hosts New Hampstead.
