The Beaufort Academy girls tennis team opened its season with a 5-1 win over a short-handed Hilton Head Christian Academy squad on Tuesday.
HHCA was without top player Meredith Inglis, who was away on the school’s senior retreat, and earned its only win at No. 1 singles, where Olivia Rose-Besecker defeated Jayda Scheper.
BA’s Presley Jackson defeated Abby Peduzzi in three sets at No. 2 singles, and BA won the remaining matches in straight sets.
BA hosts Bluffton High School at 4 p.m. Thursday, while HHCA hosts Hilton Head Island High School at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
