HS Golf: Hayward Leads Seahawks To 6th-Place Finish In Loris

The Hilton Head Island High School girls golf team opened its season with a sixth-place finish among 15 teams at the Lady Blue Jacket Invitational hosted by River Bluff High School over the weekend.

The Seahawks were in seventh place after an opening round of 386 but shot 377 in the final round to move up one spot with a team total of 763. Lexington shot 624 to win the team title by 21 shots over Oceanside Collegiate.

Emma Hayward (87-88) led the Seahawks with a 24th-place finish, followed by Morgan Caramello (89-94) in 31st. Megan Ferguson (106-96) was 47th, Julia Cardozo (104-99) was 48th, and McKenzie Bradley (117-111) finished 60th.

The Seahawks are scheduled to play a county meet against Beaufort High, Bluffton, and May River at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dolphin Head Golf Club.
