Even without star player Sydney DeSimone, the Hilton Head Christian Academy volleyball team took down a pair of large, public school foes Wednesday.
The Eagles swept Class 5A Fort Dorchester 2-0 (25-10, 25-9) and knocked off Class 4A Beaufort High 2-1 (25-22, 11-25, 25-17) with their star relegated to the bench with an ankle injury.
Olivia Reichenbach led HHCA with six kills, one block, and one ace against Fort Dorchester, while Lauryn Qualls compiled five digs, four kills, and four aces, and Samantha Norton added five kills and four digs.
Against Beaufort, Qualls put up huge numbers with 12 kills and 16 digs, and Reichenbach collected nine kills, and two blocks. Jane Bender had 19 digs, three aces, and two kills, while Norton added five digs and four kills, and Brielle McCarthy racked up 29 assists to go with one ace and one kill.
HHCA (3-0) is back in action Saturday at the Colleton Prep Jamboree in Walterboro.
