We’re less than 24 hours from kicking off Week 4 of the 2022 high school football season, and that means we need to wrap up Week 3 by naming the LowcoSports Player of the Week.
In case you missed it on the WHHI News at 5, the title will stay with the John Paul II Golden Warriors for another week. The fans stepped up in force to make May River’s Jaiden Jones their pick with more than 40 percent of the vote, and JJ agreed, but the other three members of our panel went with JPII quarterback Christian Tilton, and with good reason.
With reigning Player of the Week Jackson Ogden sidelined by an ankle injury, Tilton stepped up big time to lead JPII to a 42-7 win over Memorial Day in the WSAV/CW Game of the Week, rushing for 222 yards and two touchdowns and adding a passing TD and a 75-yard kick return score on a free kick following a safety. Tilton and the Golden Warriors head up the road to face Pinewood Prep in an intriguing SCISA 3A matchup Friday.
That’s a wrap on Week 3. Week 4 starts Friday night. Until kickoff, Go Lowco.
