Hilton Head Christian Academy girls basketball moved one step closer to a fourth consecutive SCISA 2A state title with a 71-30 statement win over Greenwood Christian in the quarterfinals Monday at the Sumter Civic Center.
The Hawks brought an 18-1 record into what looked like a marquee quarterfinal matchup, but Greenwood was no match for the Eagles’ defensive pressure. HHCA bolted to a 28-4 lead after one quarter, extended it to 48-10 at halftime, and coasted to an easy win.
The Eagles knocked down six 3-pointers in the first half, including three from Skylar Smith, to turn it into a rout early. Abby Peduzzi and Tamya Hutchinson scored 18 points each, Smith added 14, and Devon Yarde had nine to lead HHCA.
HHCA (24-2) plays Palmetto Christian at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in one semifinal, while Beaufort Academy faces Orangeburg Prep on the other side of the bracket.
