HSBBB: Bucs’ breakout season ends at Johnsonville

Bridges Prep boys basketball’s first trip to the postseason was a brief one, as the Buccaneers ran into a buzzsaw on the road Thursday, falling 71-51 at Johnsonville in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs.

The Bucs couldn’t keep pace with the Flashes, who put four players in double figures with Jordan Williams leading the way with 24 points. Jace Avant added 13 points, Travis Wilson had 12, and JJ Coles scored 10 for Johnsonville, which travels to Baptist Hill on Saturday.

Zaire Nelson scored 18 points, Damien Bee added 14, and Tony Jones had eight to lead the Bucs, who finished their season with a program-best 19-10 record.
