Hilton Head Prep boys basketball used its size advantage to overwhelm an undersized John Paul II team in a 62-46 road win Saturday afternoon.
Dolphins big man Sean Cusano continued his dominant play, leading the way with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting as well as 15 rebounds and three blocks. Kane Eanes also had an efficient day, scoring 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and JJ Hayes collected 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with six boards and four assists.
HHP bolted out to a 15-point lead after one quarter before JPII drew back within 11 at halftime and stayed in the game with its outside shooting, draining 10 3-pointers. It was a 12-point game going to the fourth, but the Dolphins’ reserves were able to hold the line.
Mark Knight scored 17 points and Jackson Ogden added 14 to lead the Golden Warriors.
HHP (18-2, 10-0) hosts Beaufort Academy on Tuesday in a matchup of the region’s top two teams. JPII (10-6, 6-4) hosts Hilton Head Christian Academy for a key region matchup Tuesday.
