Deshaun Blocker found his shooting stroke for 18 points, but Colleton County boys basketball came up short at home Tuesday in a 62-45 defeat to James Island.
The Cougars hung with the Region 7-4A frontrunners in the first half, matching the Trojans with 19 first-quarter points before falling behind 32-29 at halftime.
Blocker and company kept the deficit to just six going into the fourth quarter, but Keory Ancrum, Braxton Scott, and the Trojans pulled away with a 19-8 run in the final period.
Blocker racked up 18 points for the Cougars to lead all scorers, Brian Hamilton put up nine points, and Mykeem Gant added eight. Ancrum paced the Trojans with 14 points while Scott posted 12.
Colleton County (5-8, 1-4) hosts Beaufort High on Friday.
