HSBBB: Sharks spread the wealth in road rout of Hawks

May River boys basketball was crisp in its final tune-up before returning to region play, hammering Hanahan 63-39 on the road Thursday.

Josh Evander scored 13 points, Gavin Blocker and Tanner Macy added 11 each, and James Layman had 10 in a balanced effort from the Sharks, who showcased their depth and spread the minutes around to the bench. Brooks Van Esselstyn also gave May River a boost with eight points off the bench.

Blocker scored all of his 11 points in the first half as the Sharks blazed out to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter and pushed it to 46-12 at halftime before coasting to the finish.

May River (7-4) hosts rival Bluffton in a Region 7-4A showdown Tuesday.
