HSGBB: Sharks can’t find answer for Trojans star Duncan

May River girls basketball ran into a red-hot James Island team on the road Friday, falling 56-30 to the Trojans.

James Island star Andrea Duncan poured in 26 points, including 14 in the second half, and fellow sophomore Alaina Graf added 12 to lead the Trojans to a win in their region opener. Morgan Scott scored 11 points, and Kennedy Palmer added six for the Sharks.

The Trojans raced out to a 20-8 lead after one quarter and pushed the margin to 35-15 at halftime. May River was able to tread water in the third, trailing by 22 going to the final quarter, but the Sharks couldn’t muster enough offense to mount a comeback.

May River (4-5, 1-1) plays at Hanahan on Dec. 30.
