HSGBB: Dolphins down Red Devils on road to snap skid

Battery Creek girls basketball picked up a big road win Tuesday, defeating Wade Hampton 35-28 in Varnville to end a four-game losing streak. 

Ashante Shaw posted a game-high 11 points, while Kiara Wilson added nine and Sophia Felix had six, including a 3-pointer in the first quarter and three huge points in the fourth. 

Creek’s defense was solid throughout, keeping Wade Hampton in single digits in three of four quarters. After the Dolphins took a 20-8 lead into the break, the Red Devils came out and scored nine points and held Creek without a field goal in the quarter to pull within four heading into the final period. A close fourth period saw the Dolphins put up 12 points to close out the game. 

Nykeyah Mitchell scored 10 points and Karia Garvin added seven for the Red Devils.

The Dolphins (2-7) plays at rival Beaufort High on Friday.
