HSGBB: Pesky Patrick Henry hands Golden Warriors first defeat

After a strong start to the season, John Paul II girls basketball couldn’t find the basket frequently enough Friday, suffering its first loss 38-26 to visiting Patrick Henry.

“The effort was there, but we struggled to find the bottom of the net tonight,” JPII coach Karen Floyd said.

Maddie Heathcott led the Golden Warriors with eight points and nine rebounds, while Emily O’Sullivan added seven points and nine rebounds, and Brady Mahoney had five points and 11 boards. Paige Weniger added four points, and Caroline Gilmour grabbed six rebounds for JPII.

JPII (2-1) hosts Thomas Heyward on Jan. 4.
