The Beaufort Eagles are going to state for the first time since 2007.
Tyler Haley made big plays with his arm and his legs, Amariee Morris rushed for four touchdowns, and Beaufort’s defense turned in another dominant effort in a 42-10 rout of visiting West Florence on Friday, sending the Eagles to the Class 4A championship game Thursday at Benedict College in Columbia.

After allowing a touchdown on the Knights’ opening drive, Beaufort’s defense was locked in for the rest of the night, keeping West Florence out of the end zone and bottling up the Knights’ ground game. Morris capped off back-to-back drives with TD runs to put Beaufort ahead, and the Eagles never looked back. Haley hit McLeod Reichel for a TD pass to make it 21-10 at halftime, then showed off his wheels on a pair of long runs to set up Morris’ third TD plunge of the night.
Morris tacked on another before Jack Sumner scooped up a blocked punt to cap the scoring and send Beaufort into the title game, where the Eagles will face former Beaufort coach Devonte Holloman’s South Pointe squad at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Beaufort is the first Lowco area team to reach the SCHSL state finals in football since Bluffton lost to South Pointe in the Class 3A title game in 2011.
