Gavin Blocker poured in 27 points to lead May River boys basketball to a 61-42 win over Estill in its season opener Saturday in the Earl Campbell Preseason Tournament at Whale Branch Early College High School.
Blocker had the hot hand from the outset, scoring 11 points in the first quarter and putting up 18 in the first half. He drilled four 3-pointers and was 7-of-9 from the foul line in a terrific season-opening effort.

Josh Evander added 12 points, Chris Cash splashed a pair of 3s, and Aiden Lancaster also contributed six points for the Sharks, who led 30-19 at halftime and extended the margin to 17 by the end of the third quarter.
Kavon Chisolm scored 14 points, and Xaviar Garvin added seven for the Gators.
May River (1-0) will face rival Bluffton at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Whale Branch.
