HS GTEN: Seahawks edge Trojans for key region win

Hilton Head High girls tennis took over the No. 2 spot in Region 7-4A with a hard-fought 4-3 win at James Island on Tuesday.

Emily Ruckno and Hailey Poplin came up big for the Seahawks in the key region clash, winning their singles matches in straight sets before teaming up to earn the clinching point with a win at No. 1 doubles. 

Danielle Silva also won at No. 3 singles for the Seahawks to help force the match to a deciding doubles contest. 

HHIHS (11-4, 7-2) hosts the Trojans (10-4, 6-3) for a rematch Wednesday. The Seahawks can clinch the No. 2 seed in the playoffs with a win.
