Hilton Head High girls tennis came up short against powerhouse Lucy Beckham on the road Thursday, falling 5-2 to the defending Class 4A state champions.
The Seahawks picked up singles wins from No. 2 Hailey Poplin and No. 3 Danielle Silvan, but Piper Chaney outdueled Emily Ruckno at No. 1 and the Bengals’ depth carried the day.
HHIHS (3-2, 3-1) is back in action Friday, facing Ashley Hall at the Bishop England Tournament.
