Thomas Heyward volleyball opened its regular season with a hard-fought 3-1 win over visiting Pinewood Prep on Tuesday.
The Rebels were able to grind out wins in the first two sets, hanging on 25-23 and 25-20, before the Panthers fought back to take the third set 25-20. Thomas Heyward rallied, though, and closed it out with a dominant 25-12 win in the fourth.
Senior captain Keleigh Bowers collected six kills, 11 digs, and six aces to lead a balanced effort for the Rebels, while junior setter Megan Bennett added seven assists, seven digs, and six aces.
THA (1-0) is back in action Thursday, hosting Palmetto Christian at 6 p.m.
