Abby Peduzzi scored a hat trick — with two goals coming on headers off Bless Hurtado corners — Madison MacCabe and Addy Lentz added a goal each, and Mikayla Kelca posted a shutout in goal behind a strong defensive line to send the Eagles into the championship game.
HHCA was in control from the start but didn’t find the back of the net until Peduzzi connected on a header off a set piece midway through the first half. The multi-sport star punched in another header off a Hurtado corner to make it 2-0, and MacCabe followed quickly with a strike to make it 3-0 at halftime.
The Eagles stayed locked in on defense in the second half, controlling possession and putting pressure on the Griffins, and Peduzzi added her third goal on a 25-yard strike before Lentz capped off a brilliant effort with the final goal of the night.
HHCA (9-4-2) will face Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach in the title game at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heathwood Hall, right before the Eagles take on Oakbrook Prep for the boys crown at 1:30 p.m.
