Bridges Prep and Royal Live Oaks both advanced in the Class 1A boys soccer playoffs Tuesday.
The No. 5 seed Buccaneers went on the road and pulled off a 2-1 win over No. 4 St. John’s in the first round, while the No. 2 seed Royals Knights rolled to a 6-1 home win over Whale Branch.
Zaire Ivison and Braden Beck each scored a goal for Bridges Prep, and keeper Darick Fisher made four saves to preserve the one-goal margin.
Kevein Villegas scored a hat trick and added two assists to lead Royal Live Oaks to an impressive win. Diego Hernandez added two goals, Michael Rodriguez scored a goal, and Jesus Juarez and Angel Francisco each added an assist for the Royal Knights.
Bridges will travel to face top-seeded Palmetto Scholars in Friday’s second round, while Royal Live Oaks will host No. 3 seed Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Friday.
