HS SB: Rebels outslug Seahawks to open home-and-home series

Thomas Heyward softball won a wild slugfest on the road Tuesday, topping Hilton Head High 21-16.

The Seahawks raced out to an early 12-7 lead after two innings, but Isabel Cannon cooled off the Hilton Head bats the rest of the way as the Rebels rattled off 12 runs in the final three innings to claim the victory.

Kaylee Standard shined for the THA offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, and a trio of RBIs, while Keleigh Bowers went 2-for-5 with a triple while driving in four. Abby Bennett, Amelia Bonds, and Lucy Dantzler added a pair of hits each for the Rebels, and Cannon went the distance on the mound with eight strikeouts to notch the win.

Reagan Marchant was spectacular again for Hilton Head High, as the Gamecock commit delivered a 4-for-5 day with a double and a home run. Alexandra Fisher excelled from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-5 with a walk and two RBI.

The Seahawks and Rebels will face off again at Thomas Heyward on Wednesday.
