HS SB: Rose delivers dagger in Bobcats’ walk-off win over Trojans

Bluffton softball returned from a two-week hiatus with a thrilling 5-4 walk-off win over visiting James Island on Monday.

The Trojans led 4-3 going to the bottom of the seventh before Maison Zeroll started the winning rally with a one-out single. Parker Ray and Katie Ryan followed with singles, the latter scoring Zeroll to tie it, and Alyssa Rose smacked a single through the right side to score Ray for the winning run.

James Island jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third, but the Bobcats answered with three in the bottom half on a two-run knock from Rose and a Reagan Kelly RBI single for a 3-2 lead.

The Trojans reclaimed the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth, and that’s where it stood until the Bobcats’ rally in the seventh.

Ray went the distance in the circle for Bluffton, striking out 12 and allowing two earned runs with three walks.

The Bobcats travel to James Island on Wednesday to complete the series.
