May River pitchers racked up 14 strikeouts, and Zack Murillo drove in five runs as the Sharks rolled to a 13-4 home win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Monday.
Darin Horn struck out four over three innings of one-hit ball, Bennett Roemer sat down four over two innings, and Riley Stokes punched out six batters in two scoreless frames as the Sharks’ pitching staff overpowered the Red Raiders.
May River staked Horn to an early lead with four runs in the first and tacked on three more in the third before the future Coastal Carolina right-hander gave the ball to the bullpen after pounding the zone with 25 strikes on 32 pitches.
Morillo was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, two runs, and five RBIs, while Erik Catanzaro added two hits and two RBIs, Horn had two hits, and Roemer added an RBI triple. Walker Taylor drew four walks in five plate appearances and scored three times, and Caleb Allinder walked in all three times at bat.
May River (9-6) hosts Hilton Head High for a key Region 7-4A matchup Friday.
