Beaufort High softball rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to escape with a 6-4 road win over crosstown rival Battery Creek on Friday.
The Eagles led 2-0 after scoring single runs in the second and third innings, but the Dolphins plated two each in the fourth and fifth to take a 4-3 lead.
Beaufort’s big rally started with a leadoff double from Madison Sanchez, who swiped third and home after a Nia Holmes walk to tie it at 4. Kyrsten Cruikshank singled and Karley Rouse reached on a bunt to load the bases, and a Leela Hildenbrand walk pushed home the go-ahead run. Hayes Daugherty delivered a two-out RBI single to cap the big inning and make it a two-run advantage.
Kylie Rast slammed the door in the seventh with a clean inning, getting a strikeout, fielding a bunt for the second out, and inducing a groundout to end it.
Rast struck out 10 and allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits with three walks in a complete game, and she added a triple and a walk at the plate. Cruikshank was 3-for-4 with two runs, and Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
Brooke Crosby was 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Dolphins.
