Hilton Head Christian Academy completed the two-game season sweep of Beaufort Academy on Tuesday, edging its region rivals 4-3.
BA opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, as Tucker Mickel knocked in a two-RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. Hilton Head Christian answered right away in the bottom half on a Micheal Zoodsma double, and added a tally in the second and third innings thanks to a Jace Blackshear double and a Camden Toomer bases-loaded walk to take a 3-2 lead.
James Crosby kept BA off the board in his final five innings and got more run support in the bottom of the fifth on a Kyle Scannell sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 4-2.
BA started a seventh-inning rally with a single and walk before Walker Day lined a ball to center to plate a run, but a flyout and groundout shut down the comeback bid.
Crosby earned the victory on the mound, throwing six strong innings while allowing no earned runs and striking out six batters. Blackshear finished the job in the seventh inning while leading HHCA at the plate with a 2-for-4 game and an RBI.
Wells Sharp collected a pair of hits, and both Zoodsma and Scannell drove in a run each. Day strung together a solid outing for BA, throwing six innings with four strikeouts while allowing just two earned runs.
HHCA (4-9, 2-6) faces Coastal Hurricanes on the road Thursday.
