Colleton County softball stayed unbeaten with a 9-1 win over visiting James Island in Region 7-4A play Thursday.
Whitley Weathers continued her dominant performance in the circle for the Cougars, racking up 16 strikeouts while limiting a dangerous Trojans lineup to one run and seven hits over seven innings with no walks.

Weathers also had a nice day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI from the No. 3 spot in the lineup as the Cougars’ first four hitters combined for 13 hits, eight runs, and seven RBIs.
Shandi Brown was 4-for-4 with a double and scored four times from the leadoff spot, Jordan Slocum was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs, and three RBIs, and Sydney Howard went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
The Cougars (5-0, 3-0) play a key region series against Bluffton next week, beginning with a home game Monday.
