HS GOLF: Eagles edge Dolphins in first SCISA region clash

Hilton Head Christian Academy edged Hilton Head Prep by two shots to win a five-team match as local SCISA golf squads kicked off region play on Wednesday at Davis Love III’s Eagles Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton. 

The first region match of the season was a race between the two lead dogs, Hilton Head Christian Academy and Hilton Head Prep. HHCA bested their rivals by two, firing a 163 to HHP’s 165 team total. 

The Eagles were led by Ethan Duchame’s even-par 36 and Torin Kennedy’s 1-over-par 37. Brady Bagenstose and JP Reed each shot 45 to round out HHCA’s scoring.

JP Carr paced the Dolphins with a solid 38 on the front nine at Eagles Pointe, with his teammates Olivia Wilkie and Bridget Wilkie carding matching 42s. Chase Horn and Tripp Hedden each shot 43 for the Dolphins, and HHP’s Jeff Adams fired a 36 competing as an individual to match Duchame for medalist honors.

Holy Trinity (208) finished third with Barnes Gooding (47) and Bray Sheehan (50) leading the way. Jackson Davis (47) and Jack Carter Worrell (49) led fourth-place Beaufort Academy (214), and Cross (224) rounded out the region match with Dylan Folscroft (50) and Claire Green (51) leading the Stingrays.
