HS BSB: CPA’s Hooker, Smoak shut down Rebels for region win

Colleton Prep baseball jumped out to a big early lead and used a strong pitching performance to claim a 9-4 victory over visiting Thomas Heyward on Tuesday.

The War Hawks scored three runs in each of the first two innings after the Rebels plated one in the top of the first, and Kyle Hooker and Carter Smoak made the lead hold up with a strong showing on the mound.

Hooker struck out 10 over 4 2-3 innings, allowing four runs (one earned) with four hits and four walks, and Smoak shut down any hope of a THA rally, striking out six over 2 1-3 perfect innings of relief to close it out.
