May River boys lacrosse got the better end of a top-10 matchup Saturday, beating visiting Waccamaw 12-10 at The Tank in a match that was tight throughout.
The Sharks brought their “A” game, and captain Rob Gadomski led the charge with six goals and four assists, but May River still had to grind it out at the end against a tough Warriors squad.
Waccamaw pulled even at 9 early in the fourth quarter, but May River scored three straight goals — from Mike Gonzales, Whitt Beebe, and Hudson Kramer — to close it out.
Gadomski dished out two assists during the pivotal swing, finishing with 10 points. Kramer added two goals and two assists, Beebe had a goal and assisted on three more, Gonzales scored twice, and Reece Simonson added one.
Long stick midfielder Jacob Bollinger recorded 10 groundballs, while fellow long poles Rett Harrell, Caleb Tkaczyk, and Will Wilson collected six of their own.
Dave Lavery was 11-of-27 on the faceoff dot, and the goalie combo of Corbin Wiltse (13) and Hayden Borth (3) combined for 16 saves.
The Sharks host Region 7-4A rival Beaufort High at 7 p.m. Monday.
