USCB baseball saw its three-game win streak snapped Tuesday, dropping a seven-inning 14-2 decision on the road to No. 21 Middle Georgia State.
The Sand Sharks put two runners on base in each of the first three innings, but they couldn’t push any runs across. Middle Georgia took advantage of its opportunity in the third, sending six home to take a 6-0 lead.
USCB got on the scoreboard in the fourth with a Marino Sorbara sacrifice fly scoring Brock Thibodeaux, but the Knights answered with six more in the home half to go up 12-1. Kyran Russ drilled a home run in the fifth to trim the lead to 12-2, but Middle Georgia State scored two in the inning before holding the Sand Sharks down the rest of the way to take the 14-2 run-rule victory.
USCB couldn’t find the timely hits with runners on, stranding 11 men on the basepaths in the defeat.
Clint Sellers led the way on offense with a 2-for-4 outing, while Russ added a solo homer.
USCB (12-9, 2-4) hosts Bryant & Stratton for a doubleheader on March 16.
